Federal employment law is codified in numerous sections of the U.S. Code over several titles. Besides the proprietary databases listed below, the U.S. Code is freely available at Cornell’s Legal Information Institute and GPO’s FDsys. Annotated versions of the code are available in the print USCA (fourth floor), in USCS (Lexis) and USCA (Westlaw).

Regulations

Agency regulations about employment law are found in the Code of Federal Regulations (C.F.R.). Besides the proprietary databases listed below, the C.F.R. is freely available at Cornell’s Legal Information Institute and GPO’s FDsys. Find an annotated version of the C.F.R. in Westlaw.

Cases

Besides the proprietary databases listed below, some recent Supreme Court Decisions are freely available at Cornell's Legal Information Institute. Some recent Supreme Court, circuit courts and district courts opinions are available at Supremecourt.gov and GPO's FDsys.

Administrative Decisions and Guidance

Some administrative decisions, orders, and guidance are available in Bloomberg BNA Labor and Employment Resource CenterBloomberg Law and Westlaw. They are also freely available at the website of agencies dealing with employment law. Those agencies include: the Employee Benefits Security Administration, the Equal Employment Opportunity, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
