Student Organizations

One of the most exciting and important opportunities you will have at Seton Hall Law School is the ability to get involved in a multitude of different student organizations. At Seton Hall Law, there are more than 30 student-run organizations available for students to join. Throughout the year, these organizations host a variety of practical, social, and educational events. Being involved in these organizations enables students to develop leadership skills to aid them in their career and allows them to connect socially and professionally with peers who have similar interests.

Career Services and Externship Opportunities

The Seton Hall Law Office of Career Services is committed to giving students and alumni the help and resources necessary to pursue the careers of their choice. Every student has an assigned career counselor, which provides them with one-on-one assistance in all phases of their career planning and job search strategy.

Additionally, OCS helps with resume and cover letter editing, mock interviews, and on-campus interviews. OCS has individual rooms students can reserve for interviews.

The Office of Career Services also holds numerous career development and networking events year-round. These events provide the students with the opportunity to learn about countless practice areas and employment types from practicing attorneys.

Furthermore, through the database Symplicity, students and alumni have access to job postings, recruiting programs, career tools such as resume, cover letter guide, and more. Every year OCS runs two recruiting programs. The Fall On-Campus Interview Programs starts in mid-Summer runs through early November, and the Spring On-Campus Interview Programs starts in January and ends in May.

Finally, OCS has an excellent Career Services Boutique where students can get professional attire free of charge for their interviews.

Clinics

Seton Hall Law offers many clinics that allow students an opportunity to gain valuable, real-world experience while working on cases and projects (under the supervision of experienced faculty) that have a real impact on the community. The CSJ clinics are open to students in their final year of law school.

The different clinics available are: the Civil Litigation and Practice Clinic, Criminal Defense and Community Advocacy Clinic, Equal Justice Clinic, Family Law Clinic, Health Justice Clinic, Housing Justice and Legal Design Clinic, Immigrants' Rights/International Human Rights Clinic, and the Impact Litigation Clinic.

Just to give an example of some of the rewarding work that students can do in these clinics: students in the Immigrants' Rights/International Human Rights Clinic advocate on behalf of clients seeking asylum. The students interview their clients to learn their stories and prepare them for their hearings before asylum officers and federal immigration judges. The skills the students gain in the clinical program help to better prepare them to transition to a legal career after graduation.
