1. Click the “View eBook” option from the catalog.
2. Log in using your SHU credentials.
To read: Click the “Read Online” option either to the left of the screen or under the “Availability” section. [Note: Under the “Availability” section will note the options available pertaining to the item selected (number of copies available, read online option, and download options if any).]
Once in "Read Online" view, you have three options to navigate through the document:
1. Via "Table of Contents,"
2. Via the right and left arrows to the right of the screen, or
3. Via the scroll bar.
To download a chapter or print select pages (if option is available):
1. Click the print icon while in read view.
2. After, a window will appear giving you the option to print the current page, range of pages, or the current chapter. Make sure to select your preferred citation style before proceeding.
3. Click “Open PDF” and your document will appear. Once in PDF view, you have two options:
a. Click the download icon (the item may already be in your downloads depending on your computer setup), or
b. Click the print icon and select “Save as PDF” or select your printer to print
Quick Chapter Download:
If you already know the chapter you need to download, when on the main screen click the “Download PDF” option under the “Availability” section. This option will bring you to the Table of Contents where you can quickly select the chapter you would like to download.
If you’ve reached the maximum pages you can download, you can also copy pages by doing the following:
1. While in “Read Online” view, use your mouse to highlight the information you would like to copy. A group of icons will appear, click the copy icon..
2. Next, a window will appear; highlight the information again and follow the copy instructions noted “Press Control-C to copy." Next, paste the information to your desired document type and save.
To highlight information or to make notes:
1. Use the cursor to select the information you would like to highlight or add notes to. After selected, color options will appear to highlight the information, add a note, or both. Click the option you’d prefer to proceed with.
2. If a note is added, a note icon with appear. To review notes added or to add additional information, double click the note icon.
To export notes:
1. Only written notes can be exported, not highlighted information. To begin the export process, click the “Bookshelf” tab at the top of the page.
2. After, click the icon with three dots then select the “Export Notes” option.
3. After “Export Notes” is selected, the notes you’ve entered will download. [Note: The notes you’ve entered will also remain in the ProQuest system in the event you decide to review the notes at a later date.]
