Access Instructions

1.  Click the "View eBook" option from the catalog.

2.  Use the drop-down menu to select "Seton Hall University School of Law." 

3.  Log in using your SHU credentials.

How to Read Online

The “Available Copies” section will indicate if the item is available to view. If so, click “READ” to proceed with the check out “Borrow” process. [Note: If the item is checked out by another patron, you will have to wait until it is available before you can view the item. See “Place Hold” instructions.]

 

Once you “Borrow” (check out) the item, you will be able to navigate to different sections, highlight, and add notes within the document. To navigate to a different page, you can either:

1.  Click the right side of the screen to go to the next page, 

2.  Click the left side of the screen to go back a page, 

3.  Utilize the "Table of Contents" option, or

4.  Utilize the "Navigation" option.

How to Highlight Information and Make Notes

To highlight: Click the “Highlight” option and the color of your choice. Use the mouse to highlight your selected area. You can add notes to the items you highlight which will show in the “Annotations” section.

How to View, Save, and Print Notes

To view saved notes: Click the “X” to exit from viewing the document. This will bring you to the main screen. On the left of the screen click “My annotations” then click the document and your list of notes will appear. [Note: You can sign into LexisNexis at anytime to view the notes you’ve made, even after an item was checked in.]

To save or print notes via PDF: You will not be able to download or print the document borrowed, however, you can print the notes you’ve made throughout. 

1.  Use the boxes to select the notes you would like to print. Click "Add to export queue."

 

2.  After you’ve selected the items to “Add to export queue”, click the “Export queue” tab on the left of the screen, then select the PDF option.

 

3.  Once in PDF view, you have two options:

a.  Click the download icon Graphical user interface, text, application

b.  Click the print icon and select “Save as PDF” or select your printer to print Graphical user interface, text, application

How to Return/Check In Borrowed Books

Like hard copies, electronically borrowed items must be returned for other patrons to view the item. To return (check in) an item via OverDrive (LexisNexis):

1.  Click the “My books” tab on the left of the screen, then the “Borrowed” tab.

2.  After you will see a clock icon. A screenshot of a computer

Description automatically generated Click the clock icon then select the “RETURN” option. The item should no longer be available in your borrowed tab if completed properly.

How to Place a Hold

To place a hold: If an item you would like to “Borrow” is not available due to being checked out by another patron, you can place a hold on the item to receive notification when it is available. Click the “Place Hold” option then enter your email to receive the notification.
